Fool's Features: Edition 1 - Superheroes

Welcome to Fool’s Features, a weekly showcase of what the LEGO minifigure community has whipped up lately! This week we’re taking a look at some custom superhero rosters and talking about them.

@2p_figs creates a wonderfully diverse group of Marvel Panther characters, from the beloved T’Challa to more obscure variants such as American Panther, a character I’d not heard of before but was instantly interested in based off of 2p’s intricate tactical design. The Black Panther figure is delightfully simplistic, bearing more resemblance to some of his comic-book appearances, rather than the newer MCU-style looks (which I’m always here for).

@bricking._bad has produced a complete lineup of the past and present members of Vought’s “The Seven” from the recently concluded show, The Boys. Genius parts usage is on display all around and Bricking Bad has clearly spared no expense to capture the iconic characters likenesses. Check out their Instagram post to see the additional slides included, featuring more characters and outfits!

In brightest day, in blackest night, @haon.brx delves into the often untouched Green Lantern mythos and brings us some of his diverse rainbow rogues gallery. Snappa’s Serpentine headpiece on Saint Walker is particularly clever, as is the use of a printed tile from the 2014 General Grievous Wheel Bike set for Star Sapphire’s Lantern Ring.

@ntoony has been posting incredible Batman figures for the whole month of May, and I had to pick out my three favorites. The Bossk head works really well for Killer Croc, who looks nice and tall thanks to a backwards light grey rebreather. Deadshot is beautiful in dark red, the new Cobb Vanth arms are genius and work wonderfully to give the character his iconic wrist-blasters. Mister Freeze has to be my favorite of the bunch; the usage of Cad Bane’s head is truly inspired.

@kas.bricks_ is an incredibly prolific comic-poster in the LEGO sphere, and his take on a more comic-inspired Daredevil is exceptional as always. As somebody who’s only seen the Netflix and Disney+ shows as exposure to the character, I was still immediately able to recognize everybody and appreciate all of the details put into them.

@stflazzati is a true paragon of the LEGO craft, not only producing impeccable figure designs, but the perfect settings to go with them. I have to be honest, sometimes I’m not sure if I’m looking at a render or a real photograph with this guy! Not that either medium is worse than the other, but this creator is truly a master at utilizing angles, lighting, and other compositional techniques to achieve beautiful results. Black Adam and Pride take the center stage, posing on fleek with beautiful prints and part usage on display, my favorite being the Namor-style pointed ears for Teth Adam.

@littlegreenseamonster has made some of my all-time favorite Batman figures and has cemented himself as a prominent member in the superhero customs community, but he’s also one of the only people I’ve seen make Doom Patrol customs, a seriously underrated part of the DC universe. This isn’t the first time he’s popped off with these wacky characters either, so check out his page for more members of the Patrol!

@_nrgbrix_ is here representing our friends from the Avengers in some of their flashiest outfits! Quicksilver has to be my favorite here, the green and white outfit is so iconic (yet not seen nearly enough) and the speed effect is excellently done to match. Scarlet Witch is in her iconic first appearance outfit as well, completing the sibling duo

Last but not least, we have the @the_brick_patch bringing us some more characters from the universe of The Boys. Soldier Boy looks incredible here, and Homelander looks especially sinister thanks to the chosen head piece. Billy Butcher and his group look excellent too, ripped straight out of the show.

That’s it for this issue of Fool’s Features, come back next time to see what’s happening in the LEGO Instagram community!
